Square Foot Gardening Update #7--April 24th

Guess what we picked this week?

Five Strawberries!!!!!!

**Please note I am NO miracle worker.  These were transplants bought from the genius farmers at the farmer's market who have many more years of growin' under their belts!**

I also read that it takes 3 years for strawberries to bear fruit if grown from seeds...not patient enough for that!

We also enjoyed looking at our Azalea bushes we planted last year (at least the ones that survived--3 out of 5 is not bad since I got them on super sale at the end of the season!)

Be sure to check out $5 Dinners for more gardening updates!

Come back Monday for my first giveaway!

  1. I wanted to plant strawberries so bad but I've heard a lot of people say they weren't worth the effort because you have to beat the birds and other animals from eating them first. I'm so jealous! We planted 4 azealas this year and so far they all look beautiful especially for $2 a bush!

  5. I'll watching your strawberry progress. I keep reading about their pruning and replacing plants every 3 years and kind of get lazy and think, "I'll just buy them"! Congratulations on having stawberries first year! Yummy!
