Well there is good news and bad news--
Bad news first--the squash bugs have hit the thriving pumpkin plants. Actually, it might not be squash bugs. It looks like something is eating the flower buds and starter pumpkins off. Weird.
Good news now!
Dish Soap Spray and petunias are helping many of my other plants. My cucumbers have perked up, the pepper plants went through a growth spurt, and we are starting to get red cherry tomatoes.
We are still enjoying eating fresh green beans and lettuce too! We even have more strawberries coming in.
Gardens are such huge blessings.

Are squash bugs the ones that kinda look like lady bugs, but orange and oval instead of round? I have those all over my cucumbers(which might be why I only have 1 fruit growing well so far). I also have spotted a handful of stink bugs- I hear they are bad news too. I need to remember the gardening gloves when I do my morning pollinating(lol) and evening waterings. I cant squish unfamiliar bugs with my bare hands.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're able to get a few things already! Gardening comes with trial and error, as I'm learning. As for our tomato blight, from everything I've read, it starts in the dirt and moves through the garden. We're not supposed to plant tomatoes in the same spot next year and we're supposed to burn the plants to prevent it from spreading. I'm just leaving them in the ground for now, I did move the first one, thinking I could "save" it :) Yeah, not so much, it died anyway, and I probably infected the dirt in my little garden. Oh well, you live and learn, right?
